Getting to Koh Rong is now pretty much fool proof. From Phnom Penh get a bus or private taxi to Sihanoukville, buses leave multiple times a day and take around five hours. During peak season or if it happens to be a Cambodian holiday sometimes booking a bus in advance is necessary, but usually booking for the same day is fine.
From Sihanoukville there are a number of ferries with multiple departure times going to and from Koh Rong and our sister island Koh Rong Somloem. The most popular ferry options are the Speed Ferry (which arrives at the Dive Center Pier) and the TBC (which arrives at the Seahouse Pier, right opposite Vagabonds). Both offer open return tickets back to Sihanoukville, they usually run on time and are reliable. Advertised ‘fast boats’ take around 45 minutes, ‘slow boats’ will take about two and a half hours no matter which company you book through. The main street of Sihanoukville is lined with ferry booking offices, you can’t miss them. During high season (November – April) we strongly recommended booking your ticket in advance as they can fill up fast during this time.
Below is a map of Koh Tui (aka Koh Touch) Village, the main tourist village on the Island. Any ferry going to Koh Rong will drop you here. Print this voucher and come and find us for a free drink when you arrive!
