Koh Rong (Khmer: កោះរុង, also known as Kaôh Rōng or Koh Rung) is an island approximately 25kms off the coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand, and is one of the largest islands in Cambodia. Located in Koh Kong Province, the closest town to Koh Rong is Sihanoukville, a port town that has been well and truly on the tourist trail for a few years now.
Koh Rong is relatively new to tourism. Until recently, the 20+ untouched beaches had never seen a bikini or pair of sunglasses. The island is bigger than Hong Kong at 78 sq. kms and is home to four small fishing villages in various stages of development; Koh Touch (aka Koh Tui), Sangkat, Prek Svay and Soksan (located on Long Beach or 7km Beach). You’ll find Vagabonds and most development on the island at Koh Touch Village. This is where virtually every ferry from Sihanoukville will drop you off. Connections to all other beaches can be made from here. Check out our maps of Koh Rong Island and Koh Touch Village.
Although the island is developing fast, it is still years behind the over populated islands in Southern Thailand. You won’t ever be bothered by touts or people littering the beach with flyers. A completely uninhabited beach is only ever a short boat trip away. Whether you want to take advantage of the many activities the island has to offer or you just want to relax in a hammock and finally finish that book you’ve been carrying around for weeks, we guarantee you’ll enjoy your time with us here on Koh Rong.
